I would like to share my 4 top tips on how to get started on decluttering your house.
Step 1- Have a vision for the room:
First of all have a vision for the room you’re going to tackle. Would you like it to be clear? Would you like it to be tidy? Do you want to move some stuff around in the room? What do you want it to look like?
Step 2 – Block your diary:
Secondly, carve some time out in your diary. Make sure you have one or two hours somewhere and block that time off to do your clutter-clearing project in your house.
Step 3 – Break it down
Thirdly decide what you want to do and don’t try to do it all in one go. Either do a chest of drawers, or a wardrobe, or under the bed, or a couple of kitchen cupboards but don’t try to do everything all in one go. Don’t over-face yourself. Take your time and do it in bite sized chunks.
Step 4 – Plan an exit strategy
My last tip would be to have a think about where the things need to go. Do you need to take things to the rubbish bin/tip? Do you need to recycle some things? Can you donate some things to a charity shop? Make sure you have bags and boxes ready and decide in advance where your items are going and then carve out some more time in your diary to make that last step happen.
Good luck decluttering! Let’s clear the clutter together!
