As you may know, we at Moneymagpie think online surveys are a great way to make a bit of extra money and Swagbucks is one of the internet’s biggest survey sites.
Swagbucks gives you the opportunity to earn Swagbucks, their reward currency, for a whole host of things; from using their search engine to watching online videos. These points can be used to redeem rewards such as an Amazon gift voucher or a PayPal e-Gift Card. At the time of writing Swagbuck members collectively have earned £169,051,872 in rewards.
Perhaps the site’s biggest virtue is that you can earn Swagbucks using the internet in a way that you may well be doing anyway. On top of these you can also earn extra the more traditional way, by filling in surveys and taking part in daily polls.
Here’s our guide to Swagbucks and making the most from the site.
To begin earning points you need to sign up to Swagbucks. Registering is absolutely free to do and you are given a £3 bonus just for joining (although you must earn 2,500 Swagbucks within the first 60 days after joining to redeem it.)
You then need to decide what ways you want to start earning.
You’ll need to determine whether you want to gradually accumulate points using such features as the Swagbucks search engine and shopping through the site or if you want to put some effort into earning Swagbucks by filling in online surveys and completing tasks. Either way, we will show how to make the most from the site.
There are five main ways to earn money through Swagbucks:
Online surveys – Completing online surveys is one of the most efficient ways to earn Swagbucks. They take a little longer to do than other activities and therefore you are rewarded more for your time. For example, there are daily surveys which you can complete for 200 Swagbucks, although others will only pay out 40 Swagbucks. To ensure you’re earning as many Swagbucks as you can, make sure your profile is up to date and look out for new surveys, aimed at specific demographics, that you might be able to qualify for.
Discover – The Swagbucks Discover gives you the chance to check out some of the best offers around the net. With Discover you can earn big Swagbucks when you join third party websites and offers. Offers include free trials, competitions, freebies, gambling bonuses, subscriptions and much more. You get to take advantage of great deals and get rewarded for it…win-win!
Searching – We all need to search for stuff online. With Swagbucks you can get paid to do so.
The Swagbucks search engine is powered by Google and Bing and so should produce similar results to your usual searches only with the added benefit of earning Swagbucks. You can expect anything between 10 – 20 Swagbucks for every 10 to 20 searches, so it pays to use their engine for all your searches.
Online shopping – If you do your online shopping through their site you can earn Swagbucks for each pound/dollar you spend. Swagbucks have over 700 merchants and counting. You can earn cashback from all the popular brands such as, eBay, M&S, Waitrose, Tui, Next, House of Fraser, Expedia, Hotels.com and much more!
Watch videos – You can earn Swagbucks watching videos online which, if you’re like me, is something you’d probably be doing anyway. They have a range of videos you can view, from food to entertainment, including many of the latest film trailers. Watching ten videos will earn you 3 Swagbucks and you can earn up to 150 Swagbucks a day watching videos (that’s a LOT of videos!).
Play games – There’s a range of games on the site, including arcade games, educational games, puzzle games and casino games, that you can earn two Swagbucks periodically as you play. You can also partake in one of the game tournaments. You have to pay some of your Swagbucks to enter these tournaments for the chance to win a lot more.

You can use your Swagbucks to redeem some very good rewards.
Currently you can get a £10 Amazon gift card for 1,360 Swagbucks, £5 PayPal cash for 800 Swagbucks and a £25 M&S voucher for 3400 Swagbucks.
As you can see, getting the big rewards requires a decent amount of Swagbucks, but by incorporating Swagbucks into your daily internet routine your Swagbucks will start adding up. This is a nice way to supplement your income and, if you use the advice in this article, you should be earning plenty of Swagbucks in no time.
