Hello , Now that Black Friday is over, the full Christmas onslaught has started. Are you feeling the pressure to buy, buy, buy? I was just saying yesterday on an 'Instagram Live' that I support businesses - particularly small businesses - and want them to do well, but, more urgently, I support individuals and want them to prosper and not get themselves into debt - Christmas is a bit of a tug-of-war for these two loyalties! Ultimately, though, the most important thing is that
you have a happy time and don't get yourself into horrible debt for 2024. |

So, we have lots of ideas on MoneyMagpie for having a free Christmas, being frugal and being generally canny for Christmas. In today's newsletter we also have info on how you might qualify for a free electric blanket, how Asda is helping shoppers to save for Christmas, how you can see a West End show for a tenner after Christmas and also how to get a Christmas dinner for less at TGI this season! This December we are also raising money for an unusually good charity called Acts435. I say 'unusually' good because, unlike so many charities out there, it doesn't skim money off the top to run itself. Acts435 operates entirely on the money given through Gift Aid, so you know that every penny of the money you actually give does go direct to the needy. The needy are individuals
who need money to buy something specific. So if you go on the Acts435 website you will see people who need help to buy a fridge, or an oven, or a bed for their child or maybe clothes for a new job. You can help them get these things by donating a fiver or more to get them to their goal. All the people on the site are vetted by debt charities so you know they are genuine too. Take a look at the website and tell your friends. They take so little money for themselves that they don't get to do much promotion...which is why we're helping them with that now! To my mind, sending money to help those very much in need of the basics is the best type of 'retail therapy'. It's actually enjoyable to spend money that way. Try it, you'll see! Love Jasmine x |

Daksh* was in temporary accommodation and needed a fresh start, which meant finding a job. But without a washing machine he couldn’t clean clothes for interviews. Thanks to Acts 435 donors he was able to purchase a washing machine, and said: “Thank you to all you kind people who helped me out with my washing machine. It might seem mad to some
people but it really has changed my life and chances of getting a job. Before, I didn't even apply for jobs because of the thought of turning up in unwashed clothes. I didn't want anyone to see me because I felt scruffy and asking people to do my washing just made me feel worse about myself. I have got my pride back and I am waiting to hear about a job I went for. People like you spread happiness.†Daksh*, from Oldham Take a look at all the requests for help in the white good and furniture category. * names
